Everybody just jump in and add your piece, research, define it, thesaurus it because I need to understand this. Who is Alexander the great. I think there is at least two. Help me out Is the influence negative, positive , balanced, not leveled. Is it affecting life. Who is smarter then a high school drop out like me. lol

I read it somewhere, but the other was not named Great. I did some research and Phillip lll story was intresting, he was poisoned and became mentally and physically disabled. Supposedly because someone didn't want Alexander to have a rival, but it might have been gossip so it claims

There is a slight relationship between the two Little Horns in Daniel and Alexander the Great. Perhaps this is where you got the association. Also, there is another slight connection with the date December 25.

I wrote an essay on these subjects, but it is long and in need of editing. This is an excerpt:

Antiochus Epiphanes is widely regarded as prefiguring the Antichrist. In Daniel 8:9 he is the Little Horn. In verses 21-25, he is depicted as succeeding the King of Grecia [Macedonia]. Another Little Horn is described in Daniel 7:8. This figure succeeds the fourth Gentile empire and is likewise widely regarded as prefiguring the Antichrist, in the form of the papacy.

Some students of prophecy have regarded the differing descriptions of the same figure, the Little Horn, as evidence of a discrepancy in Daniel's histories. But they err in failing to recognize two distinct figures under the same title of Little Horn.

As types of the Antichrist, each Little Horn suggests a unique feature of this last great end-time figure. He will be a papist. He will have a maternal Jewish connection to the territory that gave rise to Antiochus Epiphanes. He succeeded the King of Grecia [Macedonia] in possessing the northern portion of Alexander's empire. Hence, he will be a papist of Macedonian descent! This is further confirmed by the composite description of the Beast in Revelation 13:1, 2.

There was only one Alexander the Great of Macedonia. Later his sickly son became ruler of Macedonia in name only. He was weak and died at a young age. Alexander's father Philip of Macedonia tried to kill him because he was gay (enjoyed being passive) and his father feared he would have no heirs. Later when Alexander was at Siwa and asked if his father's death had been avenged, the oracle of Zeus-Amon told him he had asked the wrong question and then told him that Philip's murder had been avenged, but Alexander was the son of Amon who appeared to his mother as a snake.

Alexander had a far greater influence on Western civilization (and some Eastern cultures also) because he did not just conqueror; he brought Hellenic civilization with him. It can be argued that by establishing the great center of learning at was Alexandria, Egypt, he helped develop Christianity which is a mixture of Hellenic, Egyptian, and Jewish religion/philosophies. One of the chief precursors of Christian thought was Philo Judeaus (of Alexandria).

Hellenic culture with the value it placed on the individual rather than the State still impacts our world far more than the institutions of the Christian church(s). Some claim that Jesus was an Essene. That would mean he was a Pythagorean and thus influenced by Hellenic thought.

A better comparison would be of the influences of Alexander the Great and Genghis Khan.

Alexander the Great was born three hundred and fifty before the birth Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Alexander the Great did much to spread hellenistic culture (Ancient Greek) across Asia Minor and the Levant (present day Turkey and the mideast).

Alexander did die in Babylon, from a fever, after conquering and occupying Persia (present day Iraq and Iran).

Rightafter Christmas I will be going to Siwa Oasis in Egypt. It is one of the locations which may house Alexander's body. It was on display for centuries where I know live, Alexandria. If he is now buried in Siwa, it would appear that it would have been a secondary burial - the treasure gone, but the attempt made to preserve the body after the decline of the Roman Empire.

"To the fittest" was how Alexander left his kingdom which was divided after his death. Ptolomy got Egypt. The possession of the body of Alexander confirmed a certain legitimacy to his power. Caesar Augustus is said to have seen the corps while getting rid of Anthony and Cleopatra. Others saw it up until about AD 400.

Yes, Christianity's influence changed the world for 2 millenia, but not for the better. For the majority of that time it was as violent and bigoted as Islam is now.

How can we as Americans who speak English relate to Jesus Christ who is from Jerusalem and his language would be hebrew to be able to help a cause. In the name of good will, good deeds, kind acts, contibutions. How many people in the world have cried their life away because of Jesus's story...It's so sad. People might need healing or therepy because of it.

Please let my corrections be a guide and not an admonition. Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem but lived in Nazareth.

Jesus Christ spoke Aramaic, a branch of the semitic language family, as is Hebrew but they are not the same language.

As for the effects of Jesus and His teachings, you may learn from what you may. Kindness, good will and good deeds are positive outcomes. Religious strife and intolerence are negative outcomes.

There are many paths to the mountain top. Your job is to either find the trail that suits you and your abilities or to blaze a trail on your own.

Peace.
